Abstract

The paper reviews the dispersion characteristics of sprinkler nozzles and the possibility for introducing them in underground facilities. For this purpose, a stand has been designed and constructed for simultaneous testing of two nozzles, intended for areas where it is impossible to build larger installations (Shopov & Bonev, 2019) (due to restrictions in the mass of the facility and its reinforcement in the rock massifs in underground conditions). The possibilities and scope of application of water fire extinguishing systems have been established through experimental research of the spraying intensity of the water jet on a protected area. At the same time, based on a study of the dispersion characteristics of sprinkler and spiral nozzles and screw sprinklers, the optimal choice of a fire extinguishing system has been analyzed. The presented comparative analysis of the data from the measurements focuses on the applicability in existing underground facilities.
