Nonlinear Optical Properties of Tellurite-based Glasses

Wehave investigated the mechanisms which are contribute to the linear andnonlinear optical behaviors of the heavy metal containing tellurite glasses byusing UV-Vis spectrophotometer and open aperture Z-scan experiments. Thebandgap values of the studied tellurite glasses with WO3, Nb2O5, and ZnO modifiers were found among 2.58 eV and3.01 eV. The results of the open aperture Z-scan experiments indicated that thestudied tellurite glasses modified with different amounts of WO3, Nb2O5, and ZnO possessed larger nonlinear absorptioncoefficients (among 2.62x10-7 cm/W and 6.38x10-7 cm/W) than the nonlinear absorption coefficientsof previously investigated tellurite glasses. When the linear and nonlinearabsorption results of the studied modified tellurite glasses consideredtogether, it can be reported that the mechanisms which are contributed to thenonlinear absorption coefficients caused mainly from two photon absorption andtwo photon assisted free carrier absorption.Downloads
